Field Trips & Fun Events for Michigan homeschoolers on the Michigan Homeschool Message Board.

Arts & Scraps
Groups up to 75 can be scheduled at any time Monday through Saturday. Students create 3 projects based on a theme of their choosing or use one of theirs and stuff a bag to take home. Field trips last 1 ½ to 2 hours. Registration and deposit is required. Cost: $6 per student with a $90 minimum.

Creative Arts Studio
Field trips available: Paint your own pottery, mosaics, beading/jewelry making, and hand-building with clay and wheel throwing. The studio also offers Parent/Grandparent and Me Classes for ages 2-6. The parent-child classes are a great way to spend special time together while creating lasting memories. After listening to a classic story, they'll take you step by step to creating a special pottery or mosaic piece.

The Parade Company
The world's largest collection of papier-mâché heads. Get up close with the larger-than-life floats that appear in America’s Thanksgiving Parade. See artists and costume designers busy at work as they put the finishing touches on masterpieces that we will see on Thanksgiving morning. Learn how floats are constructed. Learn more about the great traditions and proud history of The Parade and The Parade Company. Tours are offered year-round, by appointment. Cost is $12.00 for adults and $8.00 for children. Groups of all sizes are welcome.

All three stores offer a tour/field trip. Locations are Troy, Farmington Hills and St Clair Shores.

PETCO
PETCO's Fur, Feathers & Fins program allows children to learn about the characteristics and habitats of fish, reptiles, birds and small animals. Lessons in science, math and geography come to life through this hands-on field trip. The field trips are 60-90 minutes in length and are limited to 30 participants per tour. (Number of participants may vary by store.) Trip amenities include free student goodie bags with souvenirs from their trip. For grades K-8.

Pizza Hut
Call your local Pizza Hut store to set up a Free Tour for your group! Come in to see how pizza is made. Every child on the tour gets to make and eat their own pizzas. Available at participating locations.

Whole Foods Market
Many of the stores offer free tours. Find the location nearest you and either check the calendar or call the store to make set up your tour. Michigan has 4 locations. Go to the customer service counter and ask for a Whole Kids Club Card. Children 12 and under are eligible to join. Special samples are reserved for Club members. See your nearest store for details.
