Clarkston Community Band Contact Mr. Vince Chrisman, Music Director and Conductor for the Clarkston Community Band. Email at clarkstonband@hotmail.com or contact the Independence Township Parks and Recreation at 248.625.8223. The band is primarily for adults and mature high school students. They are very welcoming to someone returning to active playing or the professional or semiprofessional musician. Musicians do not have to live in Clarkston. The restored Depression-era movie house has welcomed everything from ballets to Barney to Ozzy. The Ilitches purchased the historic Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit's theatre district in July 1987 and lovingly restored it to its 1928 splendor. The 5000-seat theatre re-opened on November 19, 1988 and has been designated a National Historic Landmark. In addition to a mix of performances, concerts, Broadway shows, classic movies and family entertainment, it has hosted events associated with the Ryder Cup in 2004, the 76th All-Star Game in 2005 and the XL Super Bowl in 2006.
Upcoming Events include The Nutcracker, Rackham Choir Presents "Too Hot To Handel", Sesame Street Live! "Elmo Makes Music", B.B. King on February 16, 2008, and Oprah Winfrey Presents - The Color Purple, among others.

UM School of Music - Youth Programs - MPulse At Michigan this motivating force is MPulse Ann Arbor – a summer phenomenon on the University of Michigan campus carrying high school students to exciting new levels of excellence in Music Performance, Music Technology, Musical Theatre, and Dance.

University Musical Society (UMS) With a program steeped in music, dance, and theater, UMS hosts approximately 75 performances and 150 free educational activities each season. UMS also commissions new work, sponsors artist residencies, and organizes collaborative projects with local, national, and international partners.
The Classical Kids Club is a new initiative by UMS to give parents the opportunity to introduce their children to world-renowned classical music artists. Designed to nurture and create the next generation of musicians and music lovers, the Classical Kids Club allows students in grades 1-12 to purchase tickets to all concerts on the UMS Choral Union Series at a significantly discounted rate.
